Our History
Our founder and Chief Instructor, Sensei Simeon, was introduced to martial arts at age four. Since then, combat sports have been a pivotal part of his life. In 2015, after over fifteen years of teaching Kyokushin karate and other martial arts forms around the world, Sensei Simeon finally made his lifelong dream come true by opening his own dojo in Richmond, London. His love for Kyokushin has set the tone for one of the UK’s most fruitful martial arts dojos. EMAR Dojo has grown in popularity, and we now have eight locations across London, with three additional planned openings by the end of this year. All of our instructors are trained in-house, and follow the same training programme set by the International Federation of Karate Kyokushin.
Friendship & love for combat sports
EMAR Dojo was built on an underlying tenet of friendship and love for combat sports. This value is key to our academy’s success, and is regularly espoused by our instructors, students, and Professional Athletes. Its essence is Performance is a product of consistent professional training. At EMAR Dojo, we’ve been helping to mould lifestyles and sculpt our members into the best versions of themselves for years. The EMAR team community is a model built around the successes of our coaches, who are walking examples of how implementing the Budo way of life can draw out the positives in almost any situation.
Performance as a product of consistent efforts
Through the years, the dojo grew in popularity and numbers. We currently have over four hundred students training with us from all over the world. With each passing year, we’ve improved our facilities, and invested in extra training equipment that will help our students to advance in combat sports.
Great and supportive community that follows the BUDO way
The EMAR team is a great, supportive community with one common goal: to follow the Budo way and improve ourselves daily. Since opening, we’ve welcomed hundreds of happy students including labourers, investment bankers, pensioners, toddlers, and teens as well as others with no prior interest in competitions, and turned many into national, European and world champions.
Everyone is equal
Consistent hard work and absolute dedication has helped us become one of the best performing full contact karate clubs in theUK. We participate regularly in national and international tournaments; over the last seven years our students have won over 180 trophies in different age and weight categories. Some of our students have made it to the very top, and got selected to represent The GB National team in Kyokushin karate.
In 2022, the hard work of EMAR’s students and instructors won us thirty-seven medals in a single tournament, and our academy was ranked number one from thirty-three countries– a major recognition for our dojo.
